While you and your loved ones are enjoying fun with springtime activities, such as egg hunts and coloring Easter eggs, don't forget to set aside a moment today to remember the purpose of this holiday. Today we celebrate the resurrection of Jesus Christ, who saved us from our sins, and the end of Lenten season. We wish you and your loved ones a blessed Easter Sunday! Happy Easter from First Presbyterian Church!
Easter Prayer: Lord we lift our hearts to you. As the dawn breaks, may we carry the unity we share into every moment knowing that we are one with the risen Christ. Lord, we lift our eyes to you. As the sunrises, may this moment stay with us, reminding us to look for the beautiful colours of promise in your word. Lord, we lift our prayers to you. As the dew air falls, may we breathe this morning in and know that like the earth, you sustain us, keep us and work within us always. And so, we lift our voices to you. We celebrate the greatest day in history, when Jesus rose from death, defeated darkness and bathed the world in stunning resurrection light. May we ever live to praise you! Amen. Beautiful service today by Joanne Kublik! On this day, we commemorate Jesus' crucifixion and death. We accept Christ's payment for sin. In return, He washes away our sins and restores our right standing with God. God's mercy and grace make salvation possible and we receive everlasting life through Christ. That is how the date coined the term "Good Friday." Seven Dying Phrases of Jesus
On the night of the Last Supper, Jesus knew that His time on the Earth was coming to an end. He knew that the devil had already corrupted Judas, causing him to betray him. As Jesus washed his disciples' feet, Simon Peter said that he was unworthy of being washed by Jesus. However, Christ insisted on doing so and stated that the disciples should wash each other's feet, just as the teacher washed their feet. In a similar way, we should accept Jesus' invitation to show love to one another. We have all been recipients of service in our lives. It is time to give back and follow Christ's footsteps.
Thank you Joanne Kublik for the great Maudy Thursday service! |
