What is "Session"?
In the Presbyterian Church, Session is the council that guides the congregation's life and mission. It brings together the pastor and ruling elders elected by the congregation. Elders serve in groups, or classes, with one class completing its term each year. Terms are no longer than 3 years, and elders may be eligible for reelection under church rules. The rotation welcomes new voices while preserving the experience of those already serving. These leaders serve FPC in different ways. Some are members of Session, others help lead particular ministries and parts of church life.
